If your small space is giving you storage problems, you need to get creative. Under bed storage takes what is usually quite a bit of unused space and puts it to work. For many, this means a trip to the Container Store for some big, shallow boxes, but there are choices out there if you want your storage built in. Here's a quick roundup...

The Bossa and Lucca make great hiding places if you're ever in trouble! Great storage for small homes, but I really question if I'd use it. Great concept though.

I have the IKEA Sultan Alsarp. It's built like a tank, apart from the latch that holds the mattress platform up. That's started to jam open on one side, which is a little annoying. I suppose I could bitch to IKEA and get a replacement latch - they're pretty good about that sort of thing, believe it or not.
Still, it's fine for the longterm storage of junk I can't bring myself to part with (yet), which is what I needed most of all in my apartment. Just dump it and forget it for a year or two. I have a full-size bed, and the Alsarp bed base holds a LOT of stuff. The slats your mattress sits on are much higher-quality than what you'd find in a bed like the Malm - they function a little more like a box spring.

Gothic Cabinet Craft has some great captain's beds and other wood platform beds with drawers. I have a similar bed to this one:

I just love it. Mine has been cut in two lengthwise to that there are two halves, which are easier to move.
