IKEA's TOLGA Bed and Bedside Table

032008tolgafull.jpgAfter seeing Janel's Hot or Not featuring the TOLGA bed last month, we didn't really find it either that hot or not hot. It was just sort of interesting and strange and really inexpensive, and seemed like it might make an OK guest bed. In person, we were totally confused by it...

Seeing it sitting very low (and wobbly) to the ground, thought of wende of phoenix's comment and couldn't have agreed more:
"I'd call this a clear case where putting a futon or mattress on the floor and holding out for a real bed frame is the winning approach."

While we walked away from it fast, what we did end up with were a pair of the Tolga bedside tables ($15 each, really cute, and they seem sturdy).

I'm wondering if I could hack the wire bases and come up with a bench like the one I didn't buy from West Elm....
