Best Products: White Waffle-Weave Shower Curtain

030607showercurtain.jpgWe've had this white waffle-weave shower curtain from Target for two years now. Out of our personal history of shower curtains, this one is by far our favorite - classic white, goes with everything, thick, soft, heavy fabric washes easily, and a subtle waffle texture that we adore. Strange to love a shower curtain this much, but we really do.

We already know that when (if) this ones bites the dust, we'd happily replace it with another white waffle one.

Anyone else have a favorite shower curtain that they'll look to again and again?

Available at Target for $24.99. (We bought ours in-store, but now the Target website says it's available online only.)

I have that shower curtain! Coupled with the classic shower curtain rings with balls on them, it's perfect. If I want to update my look, I switch out my bathmat and the colors of my towels and the curtain is still fresh.

I have the same combination as Kim. I will never change it. If they every wear out, I'll replace it with another. :-)

I have it too! I like it so much, I've been considering a duvet cover in a similar fabric.

Now that I see the shower curtain is available online only, I'm tempted to buy a backup.

I love it, I've been looking for something similar- hefty enough so it doesn't rip when you peek out (or in-hhehe)but light and airy enough so it doesn't overwhelm my tiny bathroom.
I tried to go fancy on my last shower curtain rings and they snapped off, so now I too am back to the classic and gently rolling "silver balls".

I have that one too. I love it! It's so clean and stylish and brightens up my tiny bathroom.

my only gripe is that you need a liner that can't be machine washed. i have a great one that i bought at sprout that is waterproof and doesn't need a liner.

I too have this shower curtain and I love it. Love it. I'm cracking up to see how many other fans this shower curatin has. It's like a little fan club.

I bought a more expensive one at Bed Bath & Beyond because it had a terrycloth reversible back to the waffle print front and the dang thing shrunk on me! So now I've got the Target one. I bought mine at a store though just last Thursday--could the site be wrong or could I have snagged one of the last few around?

Jens - I usually get 2 washes out of my regular plastic liner. When it starts to get funky, I put it in the washer on warm with about 1/2 cup of bleach. Obviously don't put it in the dryer! It gets a little wrinkly but the bleach gets the scum off and it doesn't even smell like bleach. I've been doing it for years. It can really stretch the life of the shower curtain liner and I feel better about not just throwing it in the trash every 3-4 months and buying a new one.

Robin, you stole my thunder. I do the same with my shower curtain. I toss a couple of white towels in to add a ittle scrubbing action.

Hah, funny - I've got this one, too! I just bought a second two weeks ago in the store, so probably the website is wrong. It gives our bath a much needed clean feel until we save for the remodel.

It shrunk noticeably when I washed it (and accidentally dryed, too). So this is a cold-water/air dry candidate for sure!

Ha! Count me in, this little puppy hangs in my bathroom as well. I also bought the fluffy white bathrug that kinda goes with it, but it blows.

I got the restoration hardware version as a hand me down when my mother moved to a new place that had a glass shower door. I love it--it is so classy and goes with any style. I would suggest to those who have problems with plastic shower curtains to buy the cloth shower liners restoration hardware has. They get washed with the shower curtain/bathmat and come out like new. I've had mine for 3 years going now.

I have this shower curtain as well and - oops shrank it in the wash. Still a classic, simple choice - contrasts nicely with my HOT pink walls.

ebrown - that is a great idea! I am totally going to use that tip next time! Sorry I stole your thunder :)

Lol, I was so excited to see my fabulous shower curtain. I Love mine as well. Its very low maintenance to be pure white, it's cute, and it serves as a great neutral to the strong pinks in my bathroom

Love it!

Just a tip for all of you who have pretty high rods, or who want a longer shower curtain liner....

Walmart sells a longer and very thick clear liner. It's amazing and mildwew resistant. At $7 a pop, it's a great deal compared to those crazy prices at Restoration Harware.

posted by Keisha Kornbread on 2007-03-06 22:08:06

I'm hooked on that Wal-Mart liner, too. Mine last three or four years. And it's got grommets at the top to keep the holes from ripping, and suction cups at the edges to attach it to the wall, or the tile, or whatever.

posted by Joan A. on 2007-03-07 06:24:49

That's exactly the one I am talking about, Joan.

That thing is amazing and I have had mine for over two years. I haven't had to replace it and it has no stains, rips, tears or discoloration. I clean it once a month by hand during shower cleaning and it looks like new still.

It's not available at every Walmart and I can't even find it online, but some of the stores do sell it.

posted by Keisha Kornbread on 2007-03-07 07:54:28

Oh, and the other great thing about it (I do really hate Wal-Mart but I really like this liner) is that it's so heavy that it does NOT billow at all.

posted by Joan A. on 2007-03-07 07:59:51

Wow, that is so strange that this was just posted! I saw it yesterday in my local store and nabbed it. I was surprised that I had not spotted it before.

I have nearly the same setup with a white linen curtain instead of the waffle weave, but it recently tore a small hole in the washer/dryer, so maybe I'll replace with with a waffe weave.

I keep a mister bottle of H2O and bleach. If you hit the plastic liner with it whenever it needs it, and the damn thing'll last for ever.

posted by Doug on 2007-03-07 13:26:45

do you need a liner with this? the curtain i have now is machine-washable and water-resistant and requires no liner, which I love, but it's wearing out. any ideas where i could find another curtain like this? i hate plastic liners!

I have a white waffle weave shower curtain (from Home Rule in DC, not Target) and I LOVE it. I have a white fabric/polyester liner for it. They are both very washable. I'm about to redo my entire bathroom (yippee, I'm so excited that it's bathroom month!), and I think that the white waffle weave shower curtain is the ONLY thing I'm going to keep...

posted by JennyinDC on 2007-03-07 17:02:19

i have a similar white waffle weave in my guest bath and i can play color with the rugs. But in my bath I love more color each day and kinda hate liners. I love the non-liner fabric bersion like jens mentioned above. The most modern ones i found are from Plush

you can clean the plastic shower curtains by soaking them in baking soda in the washer, then washing it on gentle. Worked for me several times now.

I found the same stuff at Home good for 10 bucks.

I picked up two waffle-weave curtins at Linens 'n Things for about $20, one in cream and one in white. Just LOVE them -- they seem so much more luxurious than the price would suggest! Instant spa-like atmosphere!

I don't have this curtain but I'm inspired to see if I can pick one up. What I do have is an inexpensive curtain I got at a hardware store and loved:

http://xrl.us/vbcm

It looks awful in the picture, but when hung in a bathroom with light sage walls, white furnishings and tub, and brushed silver fixtures, with a window behind it for light, it looks like a piece of stained glass art. Very nice colors of blue, pink, and green. Makes it very easy to change the color scheme of my bathroom--I can switch to all cream stuff, or blue, or pink, or sage. I leave the bathroom door open because I love seeing the colors when I pass by.

I use this waffle weave curtain as a window curtain in the bedroom. I love it!

I too have a white waffle shower curtain. After having the one from Bed, bath & Beyond and Restoration Hardware, I finally found the one I love the best from the Hotel Collection at Macys.

They also have a Macy's brand, white liner for $8.00.
They look pristine for at least 4 months. For that price, I toss it and buy a new one.

I have it too- we should all meet up! It's first life was as a window curtain though. Now it lives in the bathroom :)

I saw that shower curtain at Target and fell in love with it too! I haven't bought it yet, but we are planning on redoing our bathroom [in our rental, so no fixture changing...] this summer and this will be my first purchase!
