10 Real Apartment Bathrooms
from Marie Claire Maison

Okay, Kitchen and Bath month might be over here at AT, but we can't help but continue thinking of these two important spaces. In small apartments, both rooms require extra attention to good design and efficiency, which is why we're enjoying a peek into real bathrooms in the Tous vos appart' section of the Marie Claire Maison...

We looked at 10 Real Apartment Kitchens yesterday. For glimpses into the other rooms of real apartments, go to Marie Claire Maison.

If these are real apt bathrooms, some of them must be owner occupied rather than rentals for some of them have way too nice things in them to be rentals unless high end rentals.

Your average rental won't have anything fancy due to the abuse many tenants tend to dish out.

There's some great ideas here! I love the plants in #1 and the spa feeling of #8 and the fun-factor of #6 (more people should have fun with their bathrooms!).

I love the hanging in #1, and I agree it looks totally DIY-able.

I just don't get #5 at all. And I really don't get why it's in this post with the rest of these really cute and/or elegant bathrooms.

I didn't think I'd like #9 from the thumbnail because the colors are so over the top bright, but somehow it works when I look at the larger size.

well, I can see why people are questioning why number 5 is included. but there should always be room for "things that make you go hmmm..."

re: #5
it's called 10 real apartment bathrooms, not 10 real pretty apartment bathrooms.

I know this site is here to help each other with design and learn from others. With that said, I would like to just throw out some color thoughts when painting the room you will be applying your makeup in. If you paint your room pink or reddish tones, the color with reflect on you skin and you may over compensate and add to much yellow base makeup to your skin tone. If you paint yellowish colors on the walls, the opposite will happen and you may come out of the bathroom too red. What you are doing is trying to elminate the color that is opposite on the color wheel. Grab some color paper and hold it up to your face and you can see what happens to your complexion.

I enjoyed the Apartment Therapy tips and would like to share the following information with your readers:

Jackson Stoneworks Granite Countertops.
Granite counter tops are now very affordable for both kitchens and bathrooms. Today, homeowners can go to any Lowe’s Home Improvement Store nationwide, order granite vanity tops for their bathrooms in an assortment of popular granite colors custom made by Jackson Stoneworks in sizes up to 100 inches in length and they will be delivered in 14-21 days.

Granite Ranked 1st in Cleanability.
In a recent study performed by Dr. O. Peter Snyder of the Hospitality Institute of Technology and Management (www.hi-tm.com) E. coli bacteria was used as a contaminating agent and Granite ranked 1st in Cleanability. The findings of the report show significant cleanability advantages of natural granite countertops over almost all other commonly found countertop surface materials. The study included 6 countertop surfaces which were washed and rinsed after exposure to the bacteria. They were later cleaned with a 10% solution of white household vinegar (1 part 5% vinegar, 9 parts water). Bacteria counts were taken after both cleaning methods. After washing and rinsing, the granite tops provided the greatest reduction in bacteria counts of all the countertop materials tested:
• Granite: 36,000 to 1
• Stainless Steel: 4,000 to 1
• Concrete: 2,400 to 1
• Tile: 900 to 1
• Wood: 500 to 1
• Plastic Laminate: 285 to 1

Stonetech Professional – Stain resistant sealer

Granite and Radon
