A Modern Minnesota Home

Cookie Nesting Blog 04.2008

Found on Cookie's Nesting Blog, but not at all kid-like, this modern Minnesota home uses color and light in really interesting ways. We also wanted to show it during bedroom week of the Spring Cure, since this is one of the best sleeping spaces we've seen in a long time: clean, organized, and mostly neutral with a few colorful accents. More photos below.

This home underwent some serious transformations. Before, it was an outdated space (see the photos here).

The owners did a great job using color to open up the space and make the most of the large windows. We also love the way they used clean-lined furniture to maintain an uncluttered look.

The modern lighting fixtures and classic wood-and-white finishes complete the look. Notice the pair of multi-colored bar stools, which brings a little bit of an edge to the kitchen.

anyone know anything about that white lounge chair in the third picture?

The dresser is Modulicious No. 5 from Blu Dot. The white lounge chair looks very much like the Paimio Chair (Alvar Aalto) from the MOMA collection.

Anyone care to venture a guess on the kitchen cabinets? I adore them. I wish there were pictures of the bathrooms, too.

Great post. I'd like to know more about how to decorate a room like the one in the last photo -- one that's long and narrow and has multiple low windows. Any ideas?

Hi guys this is James here.I am new for this blog but I really want to post some good stuff on it.If everything pans out, 5IVE is going to be one of the hottest homes to hit the modern green scene. You watch, I'm calling it right now. This Minneapolis, Minnesota home is aiming for the distinct accomplishment of LEED Platinum certification under the U.S. Green Building Council guidelines.

Thanks for the cool post. Chicago has got a ton of interesting spaces, each with unique modern designs and amenities. I made a post about Chicago Mag's best new architecture on Sell Modern....just in case you want to see more evidence of Chicago's badass nature.
