Blogging Chicago Home - May/June '07

050707chihome.jpgWe love getting our issues of Chicago Home; all the great local coverage wrapped up in one colorful page turner. The May/June issue was no exception.

With summer approaching, it was fun to see all of the summer cottages, homes, and getaways featured - no matter how distant a dream a summer (second) home might be. What we took from it: Inspiration for "summering-up" our year-round residence. All we want around this time is to throw the windows open and to lighten things up (color and load). More from the issue:

p. 15: Sixteen superior gifts for the design-conscious: A great round-up of unique items for greeting your summer host(ess).

2007-04-06-showroom.jpgp. 26: Q&A with Lucy Rose Singh of Lucy Rose Design (shown right) in Bucktown (reviewed here on AT by Janel): Of the British textile designs Lucy represents, she says, "There's a move back to nature, but not in a granola-and-brown-sandals way."

p. 34: Gearing up for the annual Guerrilla Furniture and Art Truck Show on Fulton Market: "Organized chaos" led by Morlen Sinoway to showcase truckloads of work by independent artists and designers. Keep an eye/ear out for the yet-to-be-announced June event date (released 2 weeks prior to the show).

Since the issue really is all about our curiosity and excitement for summer, we're wondering: Do any of you have pre-summer rituals that change the look and feel of your urban dwelling??
