House Beautiful 04.2008

House Beautiful asked 12 designers to divulge their favorite colors for small rooms. Their answers ranged from reflective white to a deep brown...

Light Tones: Andrew Flesher uses Benjamin Moore's Super White 02 to open up a room, William Miller recommends Dunn-Edwards Nomadic Taupe DE6192 for a neutral backdrop, Connie Beale suggests a silvery tone with Mercury CPP1 18 from Christopher Peacock Paint, and Phoebe Howard likes Benjamin Moore's pale white Horizon OC-53. The lone yellow suggestion was Porter Paints Fresh Curry 6254-2, recommended by Jennifer Garrigues.

Blues and Greens: Thomas Jayne likes the deep blue of Farrow and Ball's Claydon Blue 87, John Barman thinks that the Delft Blue 4003 from Fine Paints of Europe sweeps away the walls, and Jay Jeffers gravitates towards a light, crisp green like Benjamin Moore's Shades of Spring 537.

Dark Tones: Jamie Drake likes the mysterious dark gray of Benjamin Moore's Witching Hour 2120-30, Philip Gorrivan uses the aubergine tones of Farrow and Ball's Brinjal 222, and Nancy Bozhardt relies on Benjamin Moore's Appalachian Brown 2115-10 for walls and moldings to make the walls recede. Alexa Hampton recommends a mid-tone dark, Benjamin Moore's Alexandra Beige HC-77.

You're right! AT:LA posted it here. Sorry for the mix-up, and thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Yes, but sarahc--you actually listed the colours, which they didn't do!
So, I, for one am quite happy about the mix-up. And thank you.

I have a tiny, eggshell finish coffee colored bedroom- Benjamin Moore espresso- and I LOVE it . I kept going through the samples: dark, darker, darkest. Now I've done it I wish I'd done it years ago, its both sexy and calming. BTW I got the idea of going for dark walls from AT!
