apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Nate Berkus' Other Apartment
Elle Decor

Chicago designer Nate Berkus recently decorated the apartment in Milan that he shares with designer Brian Atwood. Elle Decor takes a long look at the place and from the Milo Baughman chair (covered in suede that Atwood uses in his shoe designs) to the Beverly Hills Hotel wallpaper in the dining area to the Farrah Fawcett poster, it is a very chic modern space with some serious nods to the past.

Shown above, from left to right:

2. Martinique Wallpaper and vintage Pace Collection Chairs
3. Vintage 70s desk and Milo Baughman armchair
4. Vintage Arredoluce floor lamp and B&B Italia sofa
5. Serge Mouille light fixture over the bed.

Check out the article and full slideshow of fantastic photos by Simon Upton at Elle Decor online or in the April 2009 issue.

Love that all these designers have cycled through all the modern styles and finally arrived at the 70s coke den look. Kinda digging it. Makes me wish I hadn't sold my Baughmann chairs that were so low to the ground you had to sort of flop out of them and get up off your hands and knees.

I prefer his New York and Chicago homes to this place.

Nate owns some rather choice real estate; I'm jealous, to say the least.

no matter how many times i see an interior designed by mr berkus i'm always left with a strange feeling something's missing.

i get the sense that he's going for that clever mix of styles and textures that thomas o'brien of aero does so well but in my opinion he just comes up short.

This is so uninspiring...Anyone can be a blog favorite decorator after they are popularized by Oprah; he is overrated.

Wildly overrated, yet this is the best I've seen him accomplish. Still, we're right: something's missing as usual.

    Great comment and so true.
Although Kelly Wearstler seems to be goign through a horrible 80's phase right now that needs to go away.

Just a few days ago I pulled a full-page tearsheet from a photography magazine: the Farrah poster. I thought enough time has past that its moved from cheesy to iconic. I was planning to scan into my computer to save for collage work or something. Perhaps I should consider framing instead...

Natey's place in Chicago was apartment white and even the Big O told him off for having a tv in his boudoir (for porn prolly).

Hahaha, yes, a coke den is an apt phrase here...

I don't like the office area- I'd keep expecting Alexis Carrington to come waltzing in and take my eye out with her shoulder pads!

But the rest is sheer heaven!!!!!!
