We just had the pleasure of watching long time AT reader and early AT:Chicago house tour participant on the new HGTV show, Rate My Space. It aired last night and thanks to tivo, we watched it during our lunch break today...
Rate My Space: AT Reader Kathryn on HGTV
It's a room makeover show with a bit of a twist. The episode we just watched featured a couple who were not happy with the style of their living room. They'd chosen 3 rooms from the Rate My Space site as their inspiration rooms (this is where Kathryn comes in - as one of the inspirations). The shows designer, Angelo Surmelis, works elements from each of the three rooms into the redesign of the living room, which is then carried out and revealed in its entirety at the end of the half hour episode.
Kathryn's home provided inspiration specifically in the form of the large scale paintings hanging in her dining area (shown above). A camera crew came to Chicago to film Kathryn in her home speaking about the artwork and encouraging the couple on the upcoming redesign. She did a fabulous job - not a moment of stage fright to be seen.
Congratulations to Kathryn on being a decor inspiration!

I knew I wasn't crazy!
I must have just caught the end of the show--I kept seeing the photo above flashing throughout the episode like a subliminal message.
I was pretty tired.
I'll have to watch the whole episode to see Kathryn.
I really liked that wood and metal wall too.

Doing the show was a lot of fun. I didn't realize how much work and time is involved in producing these things. I was contacted in November, they shot my segment in January and now it finally airs in June!

Actually, the chairs are called "Compact" and they are by Tacchini (www.tacchini.it).
