While scouting around the O At Home (Oprah's Home Decor Magazine) website we came across some really great tips to keep in mind while fixing up your spaces. They are simple, easy to remember and a great place to start before you spend big bucks on complete renovations or overhauls.
Rearrange - It doesn't hurt anything to change things up a bit. Don't be shy to pull pieces from other rooms that you might not normally use. Live with it for a day and make changes accordingly.
Reorganize - Clearing out the clutter from your daily used spaces can open up things not only visually but mentally as well. Having a clean bookshelf doesn't give you any more squarefootage in your apartment, but it will make it feel bigger if everything is in it's space.
Repaint - A simple pop of color whether it's on a shelf, accent piece or entire table is sure to brighten your room and bring a fresh crisp look to things.
Repurpose - Repurposing items doesn't always mean taking trash and making it treasure. Don't forget to look at your coffee table as an under-window bench or your step stool as kitchen seating.
Retail - When all else fails, don't be afraid to buy exactly what you want for the space. With the advent of Craigslist, you can retain most of the retail value of a piece if it's kept in good condition.

This is helpful for me even though I'm not "re-"anythinging my space. We moved in on Sept. 1st and I'm trying to establish comfortable and intriguing spaces out of things we already have.
Thanks!
