Chicago Home + Garden: March/April 2008
If you've picked up the latest Chicago Home + Garden issue, then you've seen "self-professed party guy" Michael Mertz's Ukrainian Village condo and all of its contemporary touches and shots of light and color.
Writer Gina Bazer refers to the fact that Mertz throws parties here - a lot - and that the place really fits the part, feeling like a happening nightspot. Our favorite elements, though, are more daytime-driven: the 3,000 sq. ft. rooftop deck with outdoor shower, the pergola for lounging bordered by tall grasses, and the endless light streaming through the entire condo.
Other enticing features: a glass enclosure on the roof, a green (the color, that is) open staircase, concrete floors, and a Plexiglas "lighthouse" that houses the bathroom. For more photos, you'll have to check out the issue in the flesh.

I Love the dark floors and the white walls, I need that in my house.

That may be one of the nicest kitchens i have ever seen. It's amazing how different a space can be made by getting rid of hanging cabinets.
