Decor Style Quiz at Sproost

sproost022009.jpgHere's a little friday afternoon diversion for the decor obsessed! We just took a fun decor style quiz at Sproost. It's very visual - you simply take a look at a series of photos of interiors and give your reaction to each ranging from hate to love...

...as it analyzes your style based on your answers. After taking the quiz, it said my personal style was a pretty evenly split mix of Vintage Modern, French Eclectic and Modern Elegance.

I could then read a blurb explaining each of the styles in more detail and then it gave me the chance to check out a sort of "style tray" of items that are recommended for my style mix.

Check it out right here at Sproost.

I came out "zen style", which is kinda surprising. I think the rooms were way too traditional for me.

The last time I took a quiz was what 80's band am I and my computer got a bad virus. Well it turned out I was Tears For Fears and a computer that nearly died.

Vintage modern for me, which I think is pretty accurate.

Mine was an almost exact split between Rustic Revival, Nantucket Style, and French Eclectic.

I don't really know what that all means. I do like rustic-looking furniture, though.

I came out a "mix of three styles" (Rustic Cottage, Vintage Modern, and something else). People are complicated and real style usually does not fit neatly into a little box. Or at least that's what I tell myself...

I got (in order) French Eclectic, Cottage Chic, and Vintage Modern. I consider myself... not really the first two, but more-so Vintage Modern. Perhaps the styles and options are too limiting... I have a hard time defining my style anyway, and I wasn't quite expecting anything groundbreaking!

100% French Eclectic.

So if you come out a mix of three styles... then what style is that? I mean, is it a very good analysis if it doesn't actually define anything?

I came out nantucket, asian, and rustic revival, but not a single one really describes my style. What on earth would you imagine if I self-described myself this way?

I'm Arts and Crafts and Zen with 9% Nantucket. I can agree with the Arts and Crafts and Zen, but have no idea where the Nantucket came from. What seemed to be missing were any photos that were more industrial. I took it a second time with similar results less the Nantucket glitch and some of the photos the second time around were different from the first.

Mine was pretty spot on... mostly French Eclectic, with a bit of Hollywood.

I took it. I was 42% French Eclectic, 42% Vintage Modern and whatever was left was Zen. At first I was surprised with the outcome (I just don't see myself as a "French Electric" kind of person), but when I read the actual descrptions of the styles being named, I thought the outcome was reasonably accurate (for a quick and dirty test).

34 % Rustic Modern, 33% Cottage Chic and 33% Vintage Modern - wow, that really is an accurate reflection of my current taste.

64% vintage modern, 18% french eclectic, and 18% modern elegance... that's pretty much my apartment. no surprises.

40% french eclectic, 40% modern elegance, 20% zen - pretty much sums up what I'd like to achieve.

Three way split: Rustic Revival, Modern Elegance, and Vintage Modern.
And if you read the description on each of those. . . scary how accurate it is.

Yeah I was 100% Zen too. That's stupid. None of those rooms were my style.

0% French Eclectic
0% Vintage Modern

100% Modern Elegance

(following the links)
"Ok, what next? Check out rooms that express your personal style --"

YOUR STYLE: French Eclectic with Vintage Modern accents

And then try to sell me stuff.

I hate this kind of BS marketing crap. I didn't vote any higher than "Just OK" on any of the slides. The had me at 0% of the style of the stuff they sell then try to sell it to me anyway.

Take it twice. Many of the photos were different my second time. And my results were pretty different, too. (Very inaccurate the second time.) I prefer to define my own style, but I can see how this might be a useful starting point for a designer with a client who has no clue what they want.

Wow! Took it three times and got different results every time. I think the first time was most accurate: modern elegance, zen, and vintage modern. Hollywood and cottage each came up once.

It's different each time.

Above and beyond.. Hollywood Couture. With a touch of Cottage Chic. I recommend taking the quiz twice as well.

...I didn't necessarily *love* any of the rooms pictured but the pages with accessory suggestions were more spot on.

He:
33% Zen
33% Rustic
34% Hollywood Couture
Does that mean he's undecided?

She:
20% French Eclectic
20% Cottage Chic
60% Modern Elegance
How can she live with that guy?

I would never have thought of myself as Rustic, but the wife pointed out elements that she called "refined rustic." So maybe I have to admit there's something there. I guess I should investigate that side of my style a bit more.

Anybody else notice Matt & Michael's black room from HGTV Design Star?

Vintage Modern 40%
Zen 10%

But the looks were so.... limiting. Where does boho chic fit in, which is very popular in the UK and hence, Living Etc, my favourite magazine?
