We grabbed this first image from a Country Living article on tips for cleaning, but what really stood out was the use of colored bottles. The visual impact of matching stems in mismatched glass bottles, all against the medium stained wood with sheer, earthy curtains reminds us of the best simple design choices reusing old glass:

pretty! It's kind of hard to get this right though -- considering how many people I know who try to keep and display ugly bottles.

"Decor with bottles" -- honestly, first thought? "99 bottles of beer on the wall..." Now I can't get that tune out of my head.

You said it, mlleErica! Enough people are doing this badly already; don't encourage more.

I collect antique poison bottles, but they're tiny.
What I really want to know about is those burlap roller shades (or a simulacrum of burlap roller shades) in the first picture. I wonder, Is it possible to substitute fabric on a regular roller shade from, say, Ikea? Or is that just another ridiculous DIY venture guaranteed to end in frustration, waste and a life of bitterness?
Just thought I'd ask.

If you don't want to do actual bottles go for these amazing photos. I have been looking at this artist for awhile trying to decide which ones to get!
