We visited the Lucy Rose showroom a few weeks ago to do a little write up for Time Out.
What we found: great fabrics and wallpapers from the UK curated by a designer (Lucy) who really knows her stuff.
The fabrics are high quality and very unique, created by artists and designers and often printed by hand. The lines available (which can be purchased at retail - the showroom is open to all) include Celia Birtwell, Cressida Bell and Dunford Wood. All very British and all very tough to find stateside before the opening of this showroom.
Two favorites: We really love the short run screen prints from St. Judes. The colors are fresh, the patterns wonderfully woodcut-y and very modern.
As a longtime admirer of the work of Florence Broadhurst, it was a real treat to see wallpapers featuring her patterns in person. The showroom is the currently the only spot in the US where the Broadhurst paper can be purchased at retail.
Lucy knows the backstory on the designers featured (and believe us, there are some good ones) as well as the history of and processes used to produce both the vintage and modern patterns.
Knowledgeable and fun to talk to, Lucy made the stop at the shop an enlightening one. If you are in the market for British style - well crafted, non-stuffy and just a little eccentric - you know where to go.
Prices start at $74/yard for fabrics and $119/double roll for wallpapers.
