2006-04-21-stitchlogo.jpg Stitch: A wide selection of goods, from furniture to watches selected and edited with a modern sensibility.

2006-04-21-pony.jpg Stitch has nice things - for your home, for you, to give as presents. Located in Bucktown, it has become a regular stop for shoppers living in and visiting the neighborhood. It is clear that Stitch is now a Chicago staple - it's like a modern general store, something for everyone. Their site gives a good overview of the product range, and is the home to the gift registry.

There is a focus on leather goods - both in the furnishings and smaller goods, including some really great wallets and bags (a silver leather diaper bag!). The leather goods are priced well, not inexpensively.

The selection of tabletop items is really nice, keep it in mind for outfitting a dinner party or picking up an appreciated hostess gift - we especially like the serving pieces. The placemat done in chocolate leather with white stitching at $30. is something we think of as a classic Stitch item.

Other goodies: studded pillows by Victoria Tsarukyan, herringbone Birch Roma blankets and the gold Orion bowl by Michael Kramer.

Pictured: Delano chair, Pacific coasters, and Zeug flatware.

My wife and several of my friends were treated very rudely by the store staff on three different occasions. I was with my wife when the staff seemed to find our presence to be a bother and didn't even want handle some of the merchandise. We went out to dinner with some friends and brought up the stores poor service. Two of our friends immediately said they had had similar experiences during separate visits. Three strikes and your out. Nice stuff, pricey and snobby sales staff. Not a store I can recommend.

My wife, family, and I all shop at STITCH and we are obsessed! Whenever I need a special, quirky, or luxe present and great friendly service, I can count on Stitch to fulfill my need for what is new in the design world and to find the latest in home and personal accessories . i.e. Missoni bath towels (very hard to find in the States), the Ghost Antlers by Erich Ginder, and Nava products (I bought this atypical euro-blue leather wallet for dudes other than your basic black). The service is genuine, smart, and kind...a lifestyle design store sans the design snobs. The moment I stepped in with my dog the first time (yesss,! pet friendly), I was greeted with a warm welcome from an attractive, stylish staff member and asked me how my day was going. I did not purchase anything that day but I was treated as if I did, that was the true test and I've never looked back. I was just in last week with my wife to look for a present of course and the young lady who works there noticed I looked a little frazzled looking for a gift for my boss and started showing me some potential gift ideas. She showed me four distinct choices all in my price range of $50-$75 which made the process so much easier and faster -- I was good to go. To top it off, Stitch even wraps all your presents without a fee or hesitation with the perfect chocolate satin ribbon. These days, you can't really find this kind of customer serivce and it is nice to know it still exists. THANK YOU STITCH!
