A bachelor pad designed by Joseph Sacco...ultra-luxurious, yes. Not a surprise, considering its location on the 28th floor penthouse of River North's Montgomery. Worth a peek for those of us living down here on the ground? Absolutely - inspiration is always welcome and the rich mix of materials used could translate to spaces of any size (or altitude). Jump below for another shot from the Chicago Home feature article:
Some details from the top photo: The wall of quartz with inset ethanol fueled fireplace is the divider to between the living room and master bedroom, which can be closed off with pocket doors for privacy. The light fixture over the dining table is from Pallucco. The table is Desiron and chairs are from Armani Casa.

The Armani Casa sofa, chairs and coffee table have a backdrop of 14 floor to ceiling windows, while floor to ceiling Arclinea cabinetry along with a really HUGE island define the kitchen. The bedroom is minimal, with a low bed to accentuate the ceiling height.

Does anyone know where to find the glass light fixture in the master bedroom, or something like that? I love the lit glass globes.

Ditto on the lights. Love 'em! I think they're the Bocci 14.5 - which you can check out here: http://www.bocci.ca or buy from ylighting.com

I love the lights too, but not for $1,336.00 =( Any less expensive alternatives out there or maybe someone has done a DIY version?

Love the kitchen.

Seems a little sterile.

Bachelors intentionally stick with minimal decor with lots of neutrals. It might seem sterile but consider it a blank slate, an invitation for the right girl to come and bring a woman's touch to the place.

I love that rug in the living room!!! Anybody know where it's from, and if there are any similar rugs that don't break the bank (as I'm sure this one does)?

I'm a woman and I wouldn't change a thing in this place.

Not sterile at all to me either, I love the clean lines, it's a calm, restful feeling to me.

No sterile at all. Calm. I am with Kathryn on this. As a woman, I would not change a thing! Very nice.

Illegal danish, that's about the dumbest comment I've heard on here, and that's really saying something. I don't think bachelors decorate as a group, so how on earth can you say what "they" do? I seriously doubt most men decorate their homes with the idea that some unknown woman will finish the job. Does your rule apply to gay bachelors as well? Who decorates for them? Good grief.

Don't be silly, why would a gay bachelor need a decorator? And yes, most people decorate as a group. I think the biggest "herd" right now is called MCM.

The best part of this pad isn't shown here -- it's a full wine cellar/room with huge glass doors next to his kitchen. Check it out at the Chicago Home Garden Magazine site at the link above.

Does anyone know who makes the rug in the living room?
I'm looking for a similar color and textured rug. if that rug is red, do you think this room is still gorgeous?

Not much personality. Does this person have a family? Or hobbies, besides shopping?
Now, granted: that chandelier is pretty unusual.

NOT sterile. ZEN. I love it.
As a gay bachelor, the last time I had someone move in on my life and try to take control of everything, I ended up with a shabby chic house that I neve came home to. (Well, it didn't help that he was a psycho drama queen as well, lol). So much for waiting for the right whatever to come along.

As a bachelor, I want to defend illegal danish's comments... he/she is exactly right.
For years, I have been buying home furnshings that are as neutral and bland as possible, in the hope that Miss Right will someday come along with her pot full of girly colors and patterns that she will use to jazz up my otherwise empty existence.
I have no interests or aesthetic opinions that would influence my decor choices -- all my time is spent gazing out the window, hoping the girl of my dreams will appear so my life can begin.
Well, that's all for now -- I have to go sit by my beige telephone in case she calls.
