When Daily Candy fills our inbox with sweet stuff related to our homes (we know how much DC loves jeans and jewels), our eyes widen. The other day we read about Mudroom Laundry, a new pick-up and delivery service in Chicago, and we wondered what our readers would think about the idea.
Daily Candy writes:
Just call their 24-hour hotline and arrange for a time for them to swing by, load their truck, and have your laundry back to you in 24 hours or less, if you like.
Particular about your Tide/Downy combo or need your pants dry cleaned? No problem; Mudroom tailors their service to meet your individual needs. Plus, they clean rugs, comforters, and jackets if youre already thinking ahead for fall.
Best of all, your laundry comes back to you neatly folded and tied up with a bow. (And the introductory offer is a deal: 50 pounds for $15.)
What do you all think in AT-land? Is this a service you might use?
(Thanks, Daily Candy!)
I receive Chicago's Daily Candy everyday, I was quite excited when I read this email about Mudroom Laundry, it's perfect for people that are on the go and live in a apartment with communal washer/dryers. In my case I wait and wait to bring things to my apartment laundry facility and still have things in bags from last winter that need to be dry cleaned. The price doesn't seem to steep and not having to spend hours doing laundry is always a plus to me! I have not yet tried this service but I plan on using it in the near future!

I have been WAITING FOR YOU ALL MY LIFE!!! Finally! I will still wash my under-lovelies myself, but this is too good to be true. I will be taking advantage of this IMMEDIATELY! Too many of the petty fights I have with my fiance are due to laundry, and I believe this service will help immensely!
Can anyone guess at what 50 pounds of laundry looks like? If it's, say, a hampers-worth, this seems like a deal and a half. But I'm fearful that this is one of those things where what I think is 50 pounds is really more like 150.
This sounds like a deal!!! Does anyone know if they take special instructions? For example, I don't like my jeans and some shirts dried, would they charge more for that?
50lbs of laundry is a lot, don't freak out. My boyfriend did about 300 of his t-shirts and it was 35lbs!
The price is actually about $1.60 per pound. I just called them after reading the article -- which would make that 50 lbs closer to $80. It also sounded like they were somewhat restrictive on delivery areas.
I tried them out ,the price was great and I got my things back very quickley .The only problem was that quite a few of my things were missing and someone elses belonging were mixed with my clothes .I don't think I will use them again.
Just recently I got my laundry back from the Mudroom and they machine dried clothes that I had asked them not to, which essentially ruined a couple pair of my shorts. When my wife called to calmly explain the situation she was verbally attacked by who we later learned was one of the owners!!! So I would definitely advise against anyone doing business with this service.
I used them and it was very shady, it cost me $60 for two normal laundry bags of clothes, they ruined two sweaters by putting them in the dryer, and they basically forced me or really intimitaded me to give them a tip! Seriously it was scary, i felt like I had to tip to get my clothes back, the hwole thing cost me $75 !I WOULD NEVER USE THEM AGAIN!!!! Also when I brought my clothes they told me if I took care of them they would make sure if I left stuff in my pockets they would give it back to me !
Hey,
I used this service AND THEY RUINED MY CLOTHES. When I went in to complain that there was ink on 10+ pairs of pants they did nothing and accused me of lying. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK
Ewwwww....that's scary!!
