5-13-08bed2.jpg

Almost any time an AT post goes up on how to make the bed, a lot of disparate voices chime in: fluffy comforter lovers vs. those who like a streamlined bed, throw pillow people vs. minimalists, bed-makers vs. those who leave the bed unmade. There are lots of ways to style and make a bed, and just as many ways to organize the bedroom. We've rounded up 10 posts from AT that give tips on everything from getting a comforter into its cover to organizing your bedroom closet...

What I want to know is where I can get a bed-skirt that isn't ugly and ruffly! I have a giant bed, with a newfangledly tall box-spring and mattress that I was gifted by an ex's mother (before we broke up), and it's too comfortable to get rid off (and I have no money to buy a new bed, so...). But none of my comforters cover the damn thing, so I'm left with all this unsightly, under-dressed space. I just have no idea what to do about it...

slanderous, The Company Store has a box spring cover that is plain white (and I think it comes in cream) matelasse.

They also have plain pique - very straight and simple.

My cheap solution was to cover my box spring with with an inexpensive sheet that matches my other blankets and things.

Another thing we did... bedspread instead of a comforter.

Harder to find one we liked, but we did. (Linensource, which has good sales.)

why don't you make your own bed ruffle? I made mine out of canvas. I just folded it, ironed it, cut the length so it fit my bed. You can either tuck it under the mattress, stick it onto the boxspring with velcro strips, or even staple it to the bed frame if its cheap and made of wood (like mine).
