apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Clerét Shower Squeegees

1017_squeegie1.jpg

We started using a squeegee in our new apartment's shower because it helps keep the glass doors free of soap and hard water residue. But we're not altogether happy with the typical squeegee design we've been using...

1017_squeegie2.jpg It's nice to keep the squeegee in the shower as a reminder to actually use it, but the one we have just props up against the tile wall. We'd love to find one that stores in such a way as to keep the blades away from the shower walls and floor, like this one over at ATLA. A little more hunting around turned up one more design that's worth a look:

Clerét's handle-less squeegee design is actually in the Smithsonian's Permanent Design Collection and was selected as Consumer Product Of The Year by the IDSA when it was released way back in 1989.

The reduced design is great in a few ways: the handle is your arm. No need for any other handle. The resulting cylinder shape can be stood on end for storage, keeping the blades off of shower floors and walls and allowing them to dry out faster and stay cleaner.

Available directly from Clerét.

My house came with one of these! It stores blade-down in the track at the top of the shower. I like it...when I remember to use it. I use environmentally friendly shower spray more often.

My parents have one of those! Its the main purpose I bought myself a squeegee when I moved (of course mine is the $1 one from IKEA though)
