Look!: IKEA's KROKVIK Chair Hangers in Action

20080408krokvik4.jpgOn a recent trip to IKEA, we almost walked right by this ingenious product because we didn't see it. What we did notice, however, was the floating chairs. KROKVIK chair hangers are brackets which mount to the underside of your table to make floor cleaning easier. They're practical for anyone with lightweight chairs and a dirty floor but they're a particularly big idea for small spaces.

Jump down for prices, links, and IKEA's table/chair recommendation.

These work surprisingly well. Sturdy, and innovative.

If only we had these things when I was in elementary school and had to put our chairs on our desks at the end of every day...

when i was at ikea we were getting a snack there and noticed these hooks under the tables, i couldn't figure out what they were at that point though...

bepsf, these probably still wouldn't work for elementary schools and places like that. My mom is a 2nd grade teacher, so I'm around this set up a lot. the chairs would still be sticking out into the very small areas between the desks, which is where the janitors need to move in between with a the broom or mop. by putting them all the way on top of the desk you free up the entire child size aisle-ways for the adult sized janitors.

I just realized that these would make great purse hooks when not holding chairs. Way to go, double-duty!

No no no on the Herman chairs. I bought one on sale back when they had the lime green ones, and the plastic never quite fit together right. That, and the chair was uncomfortable.

and if i just left the chair like that when not using it, maybe for once when i got up from dinner i wouldn't have cat hair all over my rear end?

I have 4 of the Herman chairs and I love 'em. Not the most comfortable in the world, but they do nicely considering the price.

While I don't care for the style of it I do like the idea. I just got a Roomba Scheduler (free off of craigslist no less! best craigslist find ever!) and I've been watching it tool around my apartment for the past day. I could see how this type of set up would be ideal for someone with a roomba (and regular cleaning in general).

Why not save money and maintain aesthetics by simply moving the chairs to another part of the room while sweeping under the table? Or, if space is too limited, how about turning them upside down and sitting them on the table?
