Now we've always been a big stickler when it comes to dryer sheets. We either don't use them at all, or make our own. But since we've been lugging our laundry to the laundromat lately, we can't help but be curious about this new product - you simply throw the sheet in your wash, transfer it with your clothes to the dryer and that's all she wrote. But not us, our thoughts after the jump!
Now we haven't tried the new Purex sheets, although a great deal of people on the world wide web have. After doing our homework (watching videos of people in their laundry room makes us feel lame) and checking out a ridiculous amount of blog entries, we haven't found a single bad review of the product. Although we only heard good things when it came to getting things clean, we did hear one mom report that she uses two for her extra large dirty loads.
Although we love the idea of an all in one product and the ease of lugging around bottles (no matter what size) we are still curious about a few situations. For instance, what happens when you wash your load and then hang it to dry? Can you retain the sheet, let it dry and use it later as a dryer sheet? After using the product can you use the left over sheet for anything? Dusting furniture maybe? Or is it destined to be a product that gets thrown away in the end?
We couldn't find any internet pricing yet as they are being released in stores across the country over the next few weeks, so hopefully we'll have an update for you soon!
Have you tried them yet? Let us know what you think below!

While I am intrigued and will probably give it a whirl, it would be hard to pry the Tide detergent and Bounce sheets from even my cold, dead fingers. Like my favorite toothpaste, Crest, my parents have never bought any other brand and I love them.

don't worry, MCBfly, i'm sure all the other brands will jump on this trend.
yes i'm talkin' to you, GAIN!

We who have stock in P&G appreciate the brand loyalty :)

The comment wasn't finished up in the article. I thought for sure they would finish the thought on line drying.
What if you use a washer but hang your stuff outside to dry? If you put the dryer sheets into the wash will that keep any lint from clinging to your black jeans or tops before you even hang them outside?
Thanks, Linda

I used to feel that way about Tide. Powdered Tide. Because that was all my mom ever used. Then I went to college and everyone had liquid detergent in the laundryroom. So for years I bought liquid Tide, then liquid Cheer. Then in my mid-20s I had no money and ended up buying liquid Purex, which was LESS THAN HALF the price of the same amount of Tide.
Never looked back.
(Now I buy the Costco house-brand stuff in a ginormous container, but times have changed again.)

Great idea. I've grown quite fond of the disposable Windex and other cleaning product sheets. I find it much more efficient than using paper towels....less paper/less plastic bottles. I also seem to keep everything much cleaner since it only takes a minute to pop out a sheet and get it done.

If you're looking for easier laundry detergent options, try Dropps. You can take as many as you need with you (just put them in a crush-proof container.
I don't bother with dryer sheets after learning that they contain animal fat and potentially carcinogenic chemicals. gross. I actually like the feel of my clothes better without, and the rare piece of static-y clothes really isn't that big of a deal.

I still like detergent and good old-fashioned borax, the 20 Mule Team stuff.
I use these together in the wash and there is no need for any fabric softener. Clothes always come out of the dryer static-free and soft. They would probably smell faintly like my detergent if I didn't use the unfragranced kind. My clothes just smell clean.
To make this really easy, I take a few minutes (like after I've bought new boxes of detergent and borax) and fill a bunch of snack-size ziploc bags with a measure of laundry powder and a half-cup or so of Borax. Then, on wash day, all I have to take with me is one baggie for however many loads I'm doing.
And those ziploc bags can be refilled lots of times before they wear out.

I was out last night and saw them in the Mundelein, IL Target for $5.99 for a box of 20. I haven't bought them yet, but I figured, if anyone was following they'd like to know the cost.
