Preferred Cleaning Products?

052907bathroom_ttspray.jpgWe tend to mix our cleaning supplies up:

Bar Keeper's Friend, Method, Mrs. Meyers, Windex...

Most recently, we just bought Method's tub and tile soap scum and stain remover (eucalyptus mint scent). We love it. Since the bathroom is the room we want the cleanest, that means working the hardest on it the most often - so we're regularly trying out new things.

We're wondering what your preferred cleaning products are. Tell us below!

Clorox spray for bathrooms will kill any mold in your bathroom and keep new moldies from forming in your grout. I've used it on my college apartments where the previous tenants obviously did not consider cleanliness a high priority!

For me, that is a slight range. Most of it now comes from Trader Joe's; the last exception is my wood floor cleaner which is Ecover. It's the really the only thing I've been able to get locally that does a good job on the floors.

For bathrooms and scrubbing I use baking soda with a vinegar rinse if it is really bad - it cleans out the microscopic scrapes and such with that foaming reaction.

I seem to use Bon Ami for just about everything.

Here's a challenge- I managed to leave a drop of toilet bowl cleaner on the toilet seat until it dried- it has created an ugly pale pinkish-yellow stain that I can't make a dent in with any cleaning product I throw at it.

I've tried bleach, water, windex, soap, hot water, cold water, etc. Is this a permanent stain?

stonelake,
I'd replace the entire toilet seat.
... I'm in the process now of using up the last of my toxic toilet bowl cleanser - never to buy another one again. Switching to regular soap (used more frequently), eco-friendly products, and the occasional Bon Ami (works fine if you use with a sponge and plastic gloves!).

I use Method for almost everything, but I was really unsatisfied with the bathroom cleaner. Even after serious scrubbing, the bathroom just didn't seem ... fresh. Method is great everywhere else in the apartment, but I've switched back to the toxic blue goop for the toilet.
