Cookie Magazine is usually Ohdeedoh's territory, but this Illinois barn retreat struck us as a home that anyone would enjoy (with or without kids). We bookmarked this a long time ago, and re-found it in our files the other day. With the wind and weather raging outside, it seems like a great time to revisit this cozy Midwestern house...

We found this rural family home on Cookie's addictive nesting blog. Homeowner Lori Pickert gives a full interview on how she created a beautiful "vintage modern" barn house furnished from thrift store finds.

well, there's nothing like casually flipping through AT chicago while eating dinner and suddenly seeing your own place!
thanks, sarah :^)
HOWEVER, we didn't transform a beautiful old barn .. we made one from scratch. we designed this barn house and built it new just a few years ago. i'm very happy you mistook it for the real thing, though, as that was our intention!
