On a dramatic cliff site in Nova Scotia are these escapes called the Shobac Cottages and Studio. Designed by Brian MacKay-Lyons, the cabins are small and humble where their setting is expansive and dramatic. We were awestruck taking in the photos of the surrounding landscape, and drooling by the time we got to the interiors...

The interiors are nice but, if I have to get on a boat like that in those conditions to get there, it'll never happen.

these are just beautiful. what a great way to leave intensive greed and chaos behind. the thing is, I just read Frankenstein and it reminds me too much of that. I would love to go to these cabins. Oh, and the sharks--see the Canadian Shark Resesarch Lab's site. You're in luck--the sharks most likely to be near you or the surface are just the 20-30 footers (basking sharks). Otherwise, no surprises.

To modernguy, no you definately don't have to take the boat in the pic to these cabins... they are local fishing boats. Thanks for this post! I live in Nova Scotia and these cabins would make a wonderful getaway :)

I love the use of black and white. It works awsome with those wooden interiors. It makes a statement.

Talk about a suprise. I actually helped design and build these cabins as part of the Ghost Project ran by Brian MacKay Lyons. I have physically hammered in some of the nails. Twenty-four people, including myself, started these off in a two week design-build workshop. They were completed later and I would love to go back and see the finished product in person.
