Framed Doilies

doilies072309.jpgWe're very fond of incorporating family mementos and keepsakes into children's rooms to give children a sense of connectedness and family history (like the handkerchiefs passed from her grandmother and great grandmother to Ashley, for example). We were struck by how beautiful this collection of antique doilies (also passed down from a grandmother and great grandmother) look framed and hung together....

These are so perfect. I love doilies but the original use it a little outdated for me. I use them in sewing projects sometimes but this is a much better way to preserve them. I can't wait to try this. I also have a collection of beautiful vintage handkerchiefs that would work great like this too.

oh man, i thought i alone had this idea! i'm not a big fan of lace used as furniture decor, but love how it looks against a contrasting color and framed. it's a great way to display your favorite auntie's old-fashioned gifts.
