Hamburger Phone

hamburgerphone030209.jpg

When we were a teen, our best friend had the lips phone, our neighbor had the Snoopy phone and we had the Private Phone (Remember the jingle? "Your calls are all private, now so is your phone. It's Private Call, a phone all your own.") Start the goofy phone trend for your teen with Fred Flare's Hamburger Phone...

I had an early "clock radio" with a built in phone. When your cheeck would accidentally hit the enormous redial button at least once during every call, it would dial the number (with a rotary ticking sound) then hang up. Good times!

That phone symbolized everything that was wrong with that movie. Meh.

Seeing that phone in the movie brought up two reactions in rapid succession. 1) That is so awesome. 2) I could never get one now because it has just lost its inherent awesomeness and become kitsch from the movie.

My brother had a hamburger phone back in the day. It was cute, but you were contstantly hanging up on people with your chin.

I had a clear phone, similar to this: http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Clear-Neon-Phone-Trimline-Telephone-Near-Mint_W0QQitemZ230328671307QQihZ013QQcategoryZ985QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem except with a red cord. I need to go find that phone.

If you saw Juno you might recall the trouble she had with her hamburger phone. I'd opt for the fancy neon glowing see-through phone.
