And here I thought it all came from his childhood neighbor, Mrs Goldstein...

My dad was an architect, who loved the work of Wright and Goff. The furniture in our house was always mid-century modern: Saarinen, Eames, Knoll, Herman Miller. So now, since both my parents are deceased, my 2 siblings and I have inherited the furniture, which I love. I have an original butterfly chair, and 2 round oak side tables, all as old as I am (58). These are my antiques from my parents. :) I also have a Bertoia diamond chair and footstool, a small marble Saarinen tulip table, a Knoll walnut and chrome side table, an Eames side chair (that was actually mine to begin with).

I love the form, the simplicity, and the grace of this style of furniture. And because I grew up with it, it means home and comfort.

My dad was very handy and he got that directly from his father, because my grandfather actually built his own house after her lost his first one in the Depression.

Mine did projects around the house, including re-restoring some of the antiques that my mom inherited.

Between the appreciation of the antiques, and generally being handy, I got some stuff from him along the way. Oh... and my father managed to sculpt with Bondo a new front corner of a car that he had given to me that I had a little wreck in, and you would never know it.

My mom also had a good eye, as well.
