i'm a huge huge fan of chairs not matching the table! generally i dont like *matchy matchy* furniture, and i think in a smaller space, mixing up the 2 can really add some needed visual texture.
i have a set of black russell woodard sculptura chairs around my antique maple dining table, and i adore the way it looks.
mix away!!

I like those table-chair combinations. Those brass pendants in the first photo look like cupcakes. Kind of distracting.

I love the wooden table and wicker chair va Domino. Everything works together so well. The light fixture has the perfect chunky scale and it's curve plays off the chairs. Scale, proportion, focus--everything is rght and interesting and fresh--not the same old thing we have seen a million times before. Wonderful.

I love this pairing, and if I ever need a dining room table will definitely go for it.

Yes! I have been drawn to this look for some time now, but never did pin-point what I like. Thanks, AT, for putting it into words for me!

Eek! I want those wicker chairs with my traditional dining table, so homey-yet-mod... but what to do with the windsors it came with?
I thought the 'cupcake' pendant lights looked like drink shakers, which is odd because I'll take sweets over booze any day.

The "cupcake" pendant lights are an old classic from the '30s - designed by Alvar Aalto for the Savoy restaurant in Helsinki in 1937. Still in production by Artek: http://www.artek.fi/en/products.html?Id=A330
