Dining Room Inspiration: Kettner's

Kettner's was first opened in Soho, London, in 1867. Style icon Oscar Wilde ate there, and it remains to this day a great example of elegant dining room decor...

A series of private rooms vary in style, from the French bistro-like Studio Room to the more modern Salon. There are a few common elements running through these rooms that could inspire a handsome home dining room:

  • Simple materials like marble, wood, and white linen carry the most weight.
  • A long dining table always creates a sense of occasion.
  • Plants are the best accessories.
  • White china and basic glassware are all you need to set off a good meal.
  • For some added drama, a candelabra can't be beat.
  • A fail-proof lighting plan combines overhead lighting with wall sconces, table lamps, and candles.
