Lisa's Loot

20080225loot1.jpgWe've been meaning to check out Lisa's Loot for what seems like forever but a recent reader tip made us brave the cold and visit. We're glad we finally made the trip.

Located a block or so south of the Broadway antique strip, Lisa's Loot is small but warm because it's packed full of living and breathing treasure. We spotted mid-century furniture, old cameras and typewriters, mix 'n' match vintage dishes, and some of the craziest '70s-era lamps we've ever seen. The condition of items at Lisa's is varied; some items look pristine while others could use a bit of re-hab. But each piece has been individually chosen and everything here has "good bones."

20080225loot3.jpgWe determined Lisa's current specialty to be lamps and chairs (office, rocking, vanity, or dining). But that focus could be short-lived. Lisa's Loot buys new inventory all the time (call 'em if you have something good) so in a month, there could be an influx of something completely different. This only means that when you're out antiquing (to buy, sell, or browse), this is one shop you shouldn't miss.

20080225loot6.jpgThe prices at Lisa's are incredibly fair. You can snag a small dish or weathered box for a few dollars or you can make a $1200 investment on a beautiful antique Hoosier cabinet (on left). This adorable children's play sink (on right) is marked at $60!

20080225loot2.jpgSince most Chicagoans are hibernating through this bitter weather (and not out shopping), Lisa's Loot is currently offering a generous 15% discount on all furniture. Never mind the wind, get out there, take advantage of the sale, and help keep this neighborhood shop afloat.
