Twentieth-century antique lovers beware: You are guaranteed to find many must-have-now items at the Edgewater Antique Mall. Hosting 45 furniture and decorative arts dealers, the range of objects is impressive:
appliances and dishware, artwork and prints, light fixtures and rugs. The real draw, though, is all that furniture in the front windows: Mission-style bureaus, Art Deco bars and consoles, and Eames armchairs.
Pricing seems set for some vendor competition (plus all the pieces we saw were in excellent condition), but expect to pay for your bit of design history. A stop at the Edgewater Antique Mall can take a chunk of time, so it's good to make an afternoon out of it.
The large mall isn't so tightly packed that you can't meander through comfortably, and we love that. Take your time, take some notes, gather inspiration, and check out a few other places while you're in Edgewater like the Broadway Antique Market and the enormous Hancock Fabrics (both just south on Broadway Avenue), if you're feeling inspired to start up a new project.
Nice to see a store from my hood! EAM is a great store to wander around in and a lot of times you can find a pretty good deal. I find it more affordable than the Broadway Antique Market, which has some gorgeous stuff, but is completely out of my price range!
omg that whole strip rocks my world.
I love this antique store. I never leave empty handed. Bought all my mom's xmas gifts here. Highly recommended!
while this place is fun i much prefer BAM, also if you a re having fun here get ready for the last sunday of the the summer months for the outdoor chicago antique market.
this is one of the best deals in the city for antiques. the majority of dealers have a good eye and they are well priced. plus the service is very friendly and helpful.
