8 Pieces to Use As a Home Bar

We've been watching a lot of Mad Men lately, and although (thankfully) the Don Draper regimen of five cocktails a day is no longer considered par for the course (if it ever was), we do think it's nice to have an at-home bar ready for those times when you want to mix cocktails for a dinner party or a nightcap.

Plus, those fifties-era home bars just look cool. If you're thinking of setting up your own home bar, here are a few ideas for where to stash it.

FIRST ROW
1 Credenza bar from Martha Stewart
2 Console table bar from Alex's Granny Chic
3 Tea cart bar from Anne's Rock n' Roll Loft
4 Secretary bar from Sarah and Steve's Attic Aerie
5 Suitcase liquor cabinet from VanityCase

SECOND ROW
6 Bookcase bar from Theresa's Jumpstart Project
7 Wall-mounted bar from Pottery Barn
8 Folding bar table from Ballard Designs

I just bought an old record cabinet off of Ebay that I turned into a home bar. It works perfectly! The bottom shelf where the records go is the perfect height for bottles, and the top shelf holds cups, napkins, etc.
I also love that it doesn't have the alcohol on display like most of these options.

Love that bar table from Ballard Designs...

...tho I'm wondering what the point is of posting it when it's no longer available?

I have always like the work bench that doubles as a bar. My favorite example is Thom Filicia's bar that was featured in Domino.

Try a closet bar too if you have a closet space that's not getting any use. Set up an Ikea cabinet base with a countertop and put up a couple of shelves. Take off the door and make it a focal point if you want.

I rescued an old campaign chest of drawers that was going moldy in a basement and use it in my living room. It makes a great bar when needed.
