We're sure it is the same in your mailbox - catalogs are showing up like crazy. In keeping with our entertaining theme, we decided to take a final flip through and choose one item from each that we think would work for a wintery white on white party.

From the Chiasso catalog: Lumiere candleholder in mirrored acrylic, $38.
From the Williams-Sonoma catalog:
Personalized party napkins, set of 100 $28.00

So fondue sets are being pushed by retailers as THE holiday dinner party accessory for '06. Last year every store sported their version of the ubiquitous chocolate dessert fountain. The year before that, it was the George Forman Grill with its wash-by-hand griddle.
Well allow me to throw some molten cheese on one more Crate and Barrel supported concept. Fondue dining requires a lot of patience, they are hard to clean and just arent worth the fuss. Youre eating melted cheese on bits of hard bread, not reigniting some lost culinary art.
They were pushing fondue last year, too. My advice? Fondon't.
Oh, and I love the ice bucket and cocktail shaker. Very nice.
