Amy Sedaris has written a book on entertaining. There really is not much more to say - if you take a look at the pictures above (we happen to love sixties cookbooks so we find them hilarious), the title (a reference to "party enhancers" according to Amy) and just imagine the concept you have a pretty good idea of what it might entail. Inspired by her mom, the girl scouts and bartending school, she fashions this guide of tips, etiquette, real recipes and crafts (a recycled pantyhose plant hanger!).

This book cracks me up! I love the photo of Amy holding the bong!!!
Martha Stewart is surely sweating bullits over this one!
Currently on the NY Times top ten list this is far out pacing Martha's weighty dry tome.
Amy ROCKS in everything she does and this book is no exception.
She stands all of those overly serious "entertaining" guides on thier too serious heads.
If you are looking for all of those heady recipes and tips from the 50's, 60's, and 70's...look no further.
I think we have here the Martha for the new millenium.
I was lucky enough to meet her once. Did anyone else see her a few years ago on David Letterman (or was it Conan?) with Martha? She showed Martha how to make a prison grilled cheese sandwich using an iron. Classic.
I've already purchased 3 copies for holiday hostess gifts. And I just passed her on 14th St. today. She is teeny.
i've always loved amy sedaris, but i know i will never get around to making cheeseballs or any of the retro recipes in the book. and i have a bit of an aversion to ironic gift book type stuff.
so basically i really want this book, but the dour puritan in my won't allow me to buy it.
We were lucky in Seattle, a club held a sit down interview with Amy, it was hilarious! They even had someone make cupcakes for people who bought the book at the show. She signed books after the interview, she was most charming!
Get the book! It is SO funny and you can do the stuff in the book.
I love AMY and her brother David. I want to run into her on the street too. Better yet, I'd like to meet her in a bar and buy her drinks. I'm getting this book.
reminds us to take pressure or pretense out of entertaining, besides being hilarious (if you're ever intimidated by your more well off friends'posh tastes + fatter wallets, or if you get too serious about host duties), this book is great!
