Liquor Goes Local with Death's Door Spirits

20071217spirits67.jpgDrinkin' local. Wisconsin Chef Leah Caplan recently debuted her Death's Door Gin and Vodka in Chicago. Named for the infamous water passage in Northern WI, the small-batch spirits are created using using local resources and "a special winter wheat grown only on Washington Island."

Jump down for Chicago retailers/bars that carry Death's Door and some flavor infusion ideas from Chef Caplan herself.

The spirits are also for sale at Lush (also provides mail-order) and Wine-O-Rama (on S. Canal St). Take advantage of the bottle and follow the instructions for a decadent infusion, like Caramelized Onion Vodka or Watermelon Gin.
