Thanksgiving Tables from Martha Stewart

112007gumtree.jpg

Clicking over to Martha Stewart today, we see that her Thanksgiving Tables section has had 5,454 views! So of course, we had to see what the best table setting ideas were. We picked one idea from each of the four categories: place cards (above, a sweet gum tree spur with name tag attached), linens, place settings, and centerpieces (below). Tell us which ones you like, and which you hate - there are a lot of super theme-y ideas on the site that might induce a "Yikes!" from many.

ok, I love the tree spur nametag. I grew up with these things (VERY dangerous when running around barefoot in the backyard) and I'm kind of glad to be reminded that they needn't always be a nuisance.

I love the idea of the leaves displayed under a sheer, secondary table covering...but in my family, that wouldn't last for an instant. We're too grabby - one shove of a platter, or hasty grab for the green bean casserole would ruin the entire effect.

I like the natural, yet modern look of a simple linen eyelet tablecloth with matching napkins. And since it's linen, no one balks if it's not perfectly pressed. :)

In general, I think that fancy table settings look nice, but are impractical. I have a small table and it's tough enough finding room for the necessary items.

It's neat how the tree spurs, as a place setting, look funky and seasonal at the same time. I grew up with these too and its great to see that there's some practical and pretty way to use them.
