Entryways from Tine K

Danish catalog Tine K is one of our favorite sources for inspiration. Their interiors are laid back but pulled together, simple but full of texture, elegant but attainable. We especially like their approach to entryways...

Decorated with benches, rattan baskets, and comfy cushions, these entryways seem like the perfect spot to drop your keys and kick off your shoes. The key to the look involves natural textures (wooden stools and vases full of flowers) against a backdrop of crisp white paint. I especially like the photo with the black bench and black and white striped pillows. At first this post caught me off guard with the name of the company: my first name is Tineke.

These just look messy to me. I know they are supposed to look "casual" but there's casual and then there's just laying your stuff around anywhere. Askew coat hangers and bags all over the place don't really look like any sort of system. I do, however, like the idea of using natural materials (don't want to be 100% negative!).

I would cry if I opened the door to my home and the first thing I saw was junk hanging everywhere and baskets sitting around with more junk in them. I can't think of anything more unwelcoming.

Why can't coats, gloves, scarves, shoes, etc. go into closets? Why can't keys, mail, phones, etc. go in boxes or drawers or even on trays in the bedroom, out of sight?

Why, oh why, do people feel the need to drop everything and undress right at the front door? It's a mystery to me.

I really wish people would stop picking on those who hang up their belongings at the front door. I have ONE closet in my entire apartment and it is full of my clothes and related items. I keep my keys and bag at the landing strip at the front door so I know where they are and can find them easily when I leave. It's not junk, it's what I use every day to live my life. Would it kill you, Ms. Pea, to stop harping on how we organise our front entries?

Sorry to hijack, everyone! Rant off.
