Freestanding Entryway Racks

After reading Grace's post on AT:LA about Japanese furniture store Idée, we checked out the catalog and noticed a lot of freestanding entryway racks. These types of racks are common in China and Japan, but we don't see them as much here in the US. They're a great solution for renters who can't drill hooks into their walls, and they offer a little more storage space than your traditional coat tree. 2 Noor Shikari's loft uses a clothes rack for coats at the door.
3 Wooden Chinese clothes racks can be found at Asian antique stores.
4 This Old Branch Clothes Rack from Emery & Cie is made from wrought iron.
5 A case piece from Schönbuch incorporates a mirror and clothes rack.

The first one is pretty nice... too bad it's in Japan. And $500.

You can replicate #5 really easily with Ikea PAX pieces, can't you?

Forgive me for asking - but what's the point of posting products that either aren't in production or available in the US?

ITTA with bepsf!
And I would LOVE to get something like #3, which won't cost me an arm and a leg (it's around $1K on eBay).

This is a pretty handy idea for the closet-less. This might also be good for storing winter things, or to whip out when guests are over. I like the first image. I wouldn't have though of putting a plant on the base!

In Florida, where we hardly ever wears coats, hall racks are a lost art. Nice to see these. More please.

bepsf-I can see the point, isn't it for inspiration? If you like it, you can search out something similar (this sort of thing can always be found vintage). Maybe I'm more used to seeing Apartment Therapy this way because I live in the UK, so I couldn't buy a lot of things featured. But I wouldn't want to use it as a catalogue anyway.

Yes, not all readers here are from the US, and we're more than accustomed to seeing US-only products and stores featured. I too enjoy seeing things from elsewhere for the ideas they give. Also, these sorts of racks are still pretty widespread in France (which is where I live and from where I read AT, though I'm originally from the US).
