A little while ago, we wrote a post about inspiring freestanding entryway racks from Asia and Europe, which we're following up now with some options a little closer to home. The pieces above combine a clothing rack with a spot for your shoes, and many of them have casters so you can wheel them around...

These are great for someone who doesn't have a closet or needs extra clothes storage in a spare room. They would also come in handy in a big enough laundry room.

I had one almost identical to the one in the first picture that was formerly used in one of the bedrooms that didn't have a closet. When my son moved out I repurposed it and now use it in my laundry room. I use the top for all the soaps and other chemicals used for washing /removing particular stains. The rack is also great for hanging up clothes to keep them wrinkle free and to save energy by not using the dryer as much. I use the bottom for two deep, square laundry baskets so that I can sort the wash into darks and lights.
