Fabric Walls/Backdrops

Talk about guilty pleasures (Janel mentioned Project Runway's 4th season debut tonight...yay!). One of our regular guilty time-wasters is perusing Go Fug Yourself for the latest fashion mishaps and truly hilarious commentary. Today, in addition to the fake Tim Gunn comments to "Fuggie Bell," we were intrigued by the wall covering behind her...

It appears to be fabric, not wallpaper, and we're wondering if anyone has ever secured fantastically designed fabric to a wall at home? Think of the benefits: less work to hang than wallpaper, and less commitment than paper or paint. Has anyone pulled this off this neatly, effectively, and stylishly?

i believe the guys from warymeyers.com have! i gathered this from a somewhat random conversation i once had with xy-chromosome half of the team... sorry, don't remember his name but he was super sweet and helpful!

Supposedly you can hang fabric like its wallpaper by using laundry starch, but I've never done this personally.

My cousin (in the 70's) used to use fabric all the time in their rental homes. Yep, she used laundry starch. I think she washed the fabric before putting it on the walls. Looked great.
