We've been to Del Toro in Wicker Park a few times, and every time remark on the decor of the lounge area. While it seems that the mosaics command center attention, what we're really curious about is the use of
Flor rug tiles on the walls. Juxtapose that with the mosaic tiles and wood panels of the other walls, and there's a lot going on with color, shape, style, and texture.
We're intrigued by the look in such a large space with high ceilings. But we're not convinced we'd want rug on walls (at home), and wonder what our readers have to say on the subject. Comment away!

I have no comment on the tiles, but I think this post could lead to a great apartmenttherapy section on cool restaurant interiors in the area and why.
Any takers?
I love that idea of apartmenttherapy section doing a segment on cool restaurant interiors in the area and why....
I like it!
I've seen this in a new restaurant in Amsterdam as well. Apart from being decorative it has the advantage of being a great and easy-on-the-budget way of absorbing the sounds in the restaurant. Especially in a high-ceilinged one as the one in the picture.
Would love to see how they vacuum :o)
