Quilts by Kathleen Field

0418quilt1.jpg Last week we had lunch at Blind Faith Cafe in Evanston, and noticed that the wall hangings (this time, quilts) were much more our speed than other things we've seen showcased at the cafe. While quilts may seem a little bit country or old fashioned, we were struck by these bold patterns that retain some country qualities while still meshing with a city dweller's taste.

The artist behind them is Kathleen Field, who translates elements of collage into her wall quilt designs. 0418pinkquilt.jpg You won't find this series of quilts on her website, so we've brought you the images here. Many of the pieces we spotted at Blind Faith Cafe are meant to be wallhangings, but others are large enough to cover your bed. All are sold individually, running $250-$1000.

For the quilt afficionados, the Quilts of Gee's Bend is on exhibit at Atlanta's High Museum.
