Although we've talked a lot about reusable grocery bags, there are still those other paper and plastic things that accumulate waste: produce bags, lunch bags, gift wrap. Fabric is a washable alternative that you can use again and again. We searched Etsy for a few good examples of reusable fabric bags and wraps, although anyone with basic sewing skills could easily create their own versions as well...











I never thought about using fabric bags for wrapping food - but it's certainly a good idea, and seems nicer that using plastic bags and wrap...
...the fabric gift wrap is a very common and traditional thing in Japan - there's even a certain method of wrapping the gift in fabric that makes bows and fasteners completely unnecessary.

I have always used wax paper for sandwiches, but for fruit and loose nuts that is a pretty good idea. Bags should be darker colors, they will get stained and appear unappetizing quickly. Kind of expensive too, maybe if they were insulated or padded to keep food from getting smashed...
Still interesting though.
