  • Assignment: Sign up (below the jump) and read to page 69

10-6-curepic.jpgWelcome to our Third Cure on AT:Chicago! We're at the beginning of our semi-annual home makeover project and will be following the eight chapters of our book, Apartment Therapy: The Eight Step Home Cure.

Today is the day to sign up (using the form below) with us and to also sign up in our new Flickr pool. Once you are "officially" a member both here and at Flickr, settle in and get going on your reading. All info/links are below:

  •

Sign Up Here First: Again, we're introducing an official sign up which you will find at the bottom of this post. It is meant to improve the experience and support you as you take on your own challenge in the next eight weeks. After you read through, head down there and sign up.

Visit the new Midwest Cure Flickr pool: Head on over and sign up there too, so you'll be able to share your progress through photos with the group. The Cure posts will go up twice a week on Mondays and Fridays, allowing for plenty of comment space. We will be pulling comments and pics to the front page post on each of these days and everyone is urged to take your BEFORE pics and post them here:

This Week's Assignment: Get your hands on a copy of the book and read through page 69. This gives you all the ground work and gets you started with the interview and short quiz on the health of your home.

REMEMBER: The goal is to use the group to support, inspire and answer questions as you go. The more you participate, the more you will get out of it. But you may also lurk if you are shy ;-).

The Tulip pillow is a pillow from a few years back by Thomas Paul. It was discontinued some time ago. The current collection is here:

Does it matter whether I use this form to sign up for the cure or one from a different city?

Chicago hadn't posted anything, so I signed up using a form from another city. Should I sign up here, too? (I live in a Chicago suburb.)

I haven't joined anything on Flickr yet.

OK, even though I usually get distracted and stop, I'm going to sign up again! There are still a lot of bit and pieces already in our house that need tending to, so I'll try to do a no-spend cure. Except maybe a can of paint.

I'll just be doing a Mini Cure this time, a sort of "Tying Up Loose Ends" Cure. After participating in so many cures, I don't have a lot left to do, especially since I accomplished quite a bit since the Spring Cure. I will use the extra impetus of the Cure to get my act together and actually *finish* a few things. I was hoping to do a One Room Rescue on the Living Room, but that isn't possible just now, so I'll just do a bit here and a bit there. I'll post some before pics to add to my Spring Cure pics (things have changed in the bedroom and living room since then, although the "after" of the writing room is the "before" of this Cure -- it just needs lighting).

I won't be formally signing up, but I'll be doing a bit, and will post "after" pics in the appropriate weeks.

    Have fun, everyone!

I've been debating Cure or no Cure this time, and I think I'm in for a Cure lite, because it kills me to miss it! Last time I barely got all the deep cleaning done, let along the more fun stuff like finally getting my living room curtains up. So this time, I want to concentrate less on cleaning, more on the fun stuff and finishing projects.

    Thanks for showing my playroom!

The pillows are Thomas Paul from a few years ago. Sometimes you can find them on ebay.

The artwork is an organic process...always changing and expanding!
