Cure Clock: 41 days
Assignment: Read through Ch. 6 (Pages 100-128).

Over the weekend we had some great inspirational photos posted up to the Midwestern Fall Cure Flickr Pool. If you haven't had a chance to check them out yet, take a few seconds and stop by! They might just be the jumpstart that you need to get things going.
This week we are focusing on clearing out our entryways, making landing strips and getting down and dirty with our color choices. Click on through the jump to see this week's assignments and check out what's going on in the lives of other Midwestern Fall Cure members....
gridpaper. stepped up to our Midwest Fall Cure Mini-Challenge and shared with us her small inspirational space.
This Week's Assignment (Deep Treatment): We're cleaning the entryway and closet to make room for a landing strip. A healthy entryway consists of: coat hooks or hangers, a doormat, and a space to sort mail. You're also moving old magazines and mail into the outbox, and cancelling catalogs.
Plizzyp filled small jars with left over paint to keep on hand for a quick touch up. Each jar has the paint name and color code on it in case there is a need for more than just a jar full. Great thinking!
This Week's Assignment (One-Room Workout): Color is all about balance. The 80/20 color rule is a template that you can apply to manage colors, by using strong hues sparingly (20 percent) and setting the stage with neutrals (80 percent). For inspiration, check our AT archives: AT:CHI's Color Combos, AT:NY's ColorTherapy, and entries from the 2008 Fall Colors Contest.
thefarmersdaughter has a non-working fireplace and decided to make an electric version instead. What could have cost $80 at the Hardware store cost a mere $10 instead. Great value find!
Continuing Tasks: As we move on to new parts of the Cure, keep in mind those continuing tasks which are at the heart of making and keeping your home healthy: cleaning, cooking, and repairs. The AT sites can help you stay motivated to complete these tasks regularly. Check the Kitchn for recipes, search the sites for repair tips (see this post for renovation resources), and check Re-Nest for green cleaning tips.
Mrs.Mack's outbox is in full use as the clutter from the home office is being thinned out. Nice work!

raikenn is looking for a rug and window treatments for this charming simple space.
Still need to sign up? It's not too late! Check out the details below!

raikenn, what are those mini pumpkin-looking things? They're so cute!

Raikenn's spaces are always so beautiful!
As I scrolled down, and saw the top of that mantle, I thought, "Hey! That's lorijo's fireplace!" and I was right. Looks great, lorijo!
I finally finished cleaning the kitchen, including cleaning the fridge within an inch of its life. Now I just have the cupboard beautification to do (and I've found some red paper, so I can get on with that).
In the summer, I finally hit on the right configuration for my landing strip (pictures will be uploaded this evening, or tomorrow evening), so I can keep working on the kitchen this week.

I'm looking for a vintage stool of the era of that orange one. My budget's in the Craigslist range at this point, but I have no idea where to even come across such things, esp. since I need it to be 28"+ (to function as a stool for the library card catalog I use as a desk). Any suggestions?

happify- do you happen to have a photo of your desk?

I think I have been doing this cure thing too long if SCB can tell it's my fireplace!
I love Raikenn photos too! They are so composed and beautiful.
I cleaned the fridge and kitchen floor and started scrubbing down the cabinets and doors (which need to be re painted) I have also started the plans for my studio- which is the big project for me this cure!

I'm a bit behind as last week was a blur, but this evening after spilling a container of tomato sauce all across my kitchen floor/cabinets, I don't have much of a choice right now but to get to cleaning. Hopefully I'll get most of my tiny kitchen done tonight!

Well, I just finished mopping and the kitchen has now been cleaned, top to bottom (oops! except I keep forgetting the corner cabinet w/ the baking dishes). Well, after the floor dries I'll get that and then reward myself with the new domino in bed! Phew! Long night in a tiny kitchen but so very worth it!

the plant is called a pumpkin vine, it is a relative to the eggplant vegetable.

Sarahrae, I do have a photo of it in quite a messy state (for the Cure) at http://flickr.com/photos/happify/2944853359/. It's currently cleaner than that though, I promise!
