"To me, this room is simply beautiful, and the color combination so harmonious. Though I've never met Alicia, I get such a strong sense of her personality from her use of color and would the suspect at minimum the following: she is young at heart, playful, a little bit old-fashioned, quirky, discriminating, a true romantic, quite fastidious, and not the least bit afraid of color!...
I also appreciate how Alicia's use of color works on both large and small scales, from the overall feel of the room down to the tiny vignettes she sets up on the walls and tables. That she was inspired by a teacup is inspiring. Last but not least I'm struck by the fact that Alicia is one of the few contestants that chose to photograph a room other than a living room or kitchen (i.e. not a room that is used for entertaining) and therefore not a room that was designed around the idea that many people will be seeing it. The room is more personal, and so her use of color becomes all the more poignant, chosen less to impress others than to inspire herself and her work. I have a lot of respect for that and believe that should be at the heart of one's choice of colors in their home. Well done, Alicia...thanks for letting us into your sewing studio!
(Though I know I was asked to submit only one Honorable Mention, I have to applaud #42 from the Midwest: John and Anna's Old & New Rendezvous. I did love this entry and thought the first photo in particular showed such a wonderful use of color from the floors straight up to the ceilings).
