Type: 2 story condo, owned
Why I use color: I am a graphic designer and I believe that color is one of the most subconscious influences in our environment that controls feelings and mood. It is amazing to me the things that people start saying in response to the color use in my condo. I love deep, saturated hues. They are so stimulating to me and created such a mood and feeling. It is always amazing to me as well, how differently everyone sees colors - this reinforces my belief in the power that color has on our emotions.
2 good color tips:
Do not focus too much on matching. Mixing up colors that you
wouldn't normally think of putting together often ends up with the best
results.
2. Pick up tons of paint sample sheets for inspiration of mixing colors
together
2 good color resources:
1. . Vintage clothing stores are always filled with interesting color
mixes that we don't think of.
2. Use everyday objects that create an emotional response to mix
colors. My bedroom color is inspired by my perfume bottle. I could
never find the color I wanted, and had it mixed to match the bottle.
I looooove your home!
(I'm a graphic designer too....)
Beautiful!

Cute sofa!
I love hot pink and orange together, but if it were me I would have prefered to just do one wall pink and leave some white or cream to set off your brights. I voted in contention.
I love your bedroom! I have the same wall color and curtains. I am so happy in that room. The pink and orange are such happy colors together. I added a red net canopy over my bed then hung a small chandelier inside the canopy. The red against the pink is really pretty.
I love your pillows and the little dolls that you hung above your bed :)
I forgot to ask, where did you find those long mirrors that are above your sofa?
adorable sofa!
Have you people all gone mad? Have you no taste whatsoever? Kerri, you might be a graphic designer, but colors that might look together in graphics are not attractive plastered all over your home.
Lisa...perhaps it's just you who has "gone mad " and has "no taste whatsoever"? :)
Yeah..I think so :)
I really like that cute sofa! And what's interesting, upon first glance I thought that the mirrors above the sofa were actually windows. Very creative use placing them lengthwise like that.
I love your home, but I must have that sofa, please.... I also love the pillows on the sofa. And that bedroom - beautiful. I love hot pink and orange together.
Where did you get those orange nesting tables?
mmm - orange nesting tables are West Elm. The color is called "cinnabar"...quite fetching. I want a set for my living room.
Click on my name for link...hopefully I did it right.
Hmmm, the living room is kind of drab.
(the bedroom is definitely not.)
I like the mirrors above the couch though, too. Where can you find such long ones?
I love the bedroom - the orange and pink look fabulous. The curtains are gorgeous! The living room is a little dull in comparison. But I really like the sofa!
The mirrors I got from a consignment shop in Dallas (againandagain.com) a great find for $30 each! I belive they were used in a a display at Neiman Marcus in the 70s.
I must agree with Lisa when I say have you people no taste? Can we please graduate to using a more sophisticated mixed color palatte instead of matching everything to everything else.
But I will give you props for your eclectic furniture mix in the living room. I love it!
Since when is dallas texas in the midwest?
I agree with the other Lisa. The room is hideous. I paint for a living and that is not painting. That looks as though you went and bought the incorrectly mixed paints at the paint store and threw it on the wall. You have no taste. It really looks cheap.
Lisa. Really. Is that sort of nasty comment needed? Have you heard of constructive criticism? Or how about no criticism? So it isn't your style - you don't live there.
