Why I use color:"Color can evoke so many emotions in people. It can energize them, it can put them at ease, it can comfort them, it can unsettle them. When I use color I try to think about the feelings I want to have when I'm in the room. This usually translates to cool colors for the bedroom so that it will feel like a serene oasis at the end of the day, and warm colors for public rooms, to help pump up the energy when a group of friends are gathered."
"Color is especially important to me right now because I can't paint my apartment. So I take even more care than usual in choosing my furnishings."
2 Good color tips:
"Think about the kind of energy you want to have. Is it calm and soothing or electric and vibrant? Choose color accordingly."
"Sometimes the greatest impact can come from just one well-chosen splash of color. You can completely change the way a neutral room looks by adding a standout chair or painting a single wall."
Favorite type and brand of paint:"Honestly? I'm still at the stage where I have to take whatever is cheapest, usually from the mis-mixed section. This can require several trips to the store before you hit on a color that really speaks to you. A great place to look is at your local Habitat for Humanity Restore, because they tend to get donations from people who have a spare gallon or two of paint -- just the right amount to do one wall or a small room. As far as finishes go, I really like eggshell."
Lots of patterns...

It's great to (finally) see a place where painting isn't allowed. Finding furniture and accessories to make a room colorful is a more challenging goal, IMO, and I think she did a great job. wish I could have seen better pics of the public areas though.

Personally I think any submission with those birds should be instantly disqualified.

People are entitled to their own opinions... but just because we're seeing these images on the Internet and not in person doesn't entitle rudeness. If I were standing in a home I had been invited into, I highly doubt I would forget to use tact.

For some reason I really like the combination of colors in the bedroom, the clean white walls, the soft greens, the blues. I was wavering about what color to do my bedroom in, but now I think I know!

I like the birds. Where did you get the stencil for them? I have no plans this weekend and need a project.

what is up with all the rude comments on at lately? what happened to the days of yore where everyone was helpful and polite?
i like it. it's nice to see someone else without paint on their walls. i've been living on my own for 4 years now and after moving out of my mother's all white house, i swore up and down i would paint each room a different color and have those rooms color schemes all be the same as what was on the walls - i have yet to paint a single wall in a single apartment. i have brightly colored furniture and rugs and sometimes its all you need. and i love LOVE your rug. bravo.

I do not see much ccolor, only a few items but nothing bold. And no dramatic paint colors. So sorry!

Yes, the birds are bliks that I picked up on sale at Target a couple of years ago for about $10. They're certainly the most overused of the blik designs, but I had fun making them swoop out of the tree painting on the wall and across the bed. :)
The rug is from Urban Outfitters and is even more discounted than when I bought it a few months ago.
Thanks for the nice remarks!
