Where did you get those pink chairs? Love them, and your other colos!

That first photo is really lovely - great balance of color and white (or rather, the absence of color). The white really keeps it fresh. My only criticism is that there are too many... shapes? textures? going on... (read: certain elements, like the table/rug combo just don't work together).

There could have been a variety of photos, as well (from different angles) - I almost feel like we're seeing 5 versions of the same photo.

I love the gallery of white frames along that blue wall. Splendid!

That sofa reminds me of my grandma's sofa!
I'm serious, its the same pattern and colors.
I also like the bird cages in the corner, I think I may steal that idea.

You've shown me something new with that painted stripe along one wall, opposite the gallery "stripe" of identical frames - the two elements wrap up the room like a gift. Inspiring!

I adore your sofa and pink chairs! But I have to say I'm not loving the hides on the floor. With all those flipped-up edges I would probably trip all over myself all the time.

This is a beautiful room, with gorgeous furniture and an inventive use of color! Sofa and chairs rock! Wish we could see the other rooms in your home too.

I love this whole thing, but I really have to say that the relationship between the blue stripe above the mantel with those white vases and those little flowers in them is my favorite thing. It might be my favorite morsel in the whole dang contest, even.

I love that blue! I actually have a wall that color too. The furniture is bold and interesting, not my personal style, but so well done I kinda have to like it.

I could not have imagined the living room in which a glass table supported on two large white pineapples would look awesome, but you did it so well that I'm left thinking, "What can I buy that is held up on two white items like that..."

There's a lot going on, and it's fabulous. Also, I have a very similar midcentury chest - yay Lane.

My only suggestion would be to get a rug that shows off the white pineapples more. I like rug you have, but the pineapples blend in with the off-white hide, rather than shining in all their glory. Or, you could paint the pineapples a different color to add contrast, but I'm guessing you like them the way they are.

I love this room, and I agree with at least one person above - my one nagging misgiving is the rug. It's really cool, but I would get something in a natural/warm brown to set off the pineapples. The big whiteness of the rug sort of competes too much with the room.

Love the colors. My only quip is you need something of a different scale in the room (bigger?). Maybe a human sized version of those cool pineapples--wait that might fall over and kill one of your guests.

incredible color combinations and amazing balance

I love this room! The colors evoke the Indian/Moroccan palette I love so much. I have tried to use similar colors in my home, and not come out with anything this "put together." Ecclectic is so much harder to pull off than most people realize, and this room does it with...shining colors! (-;

i love the blue stipe, I've found exactly what my white wall at home needs, but the pineapples and the rug i just can't bring myself to like.

I love this! (not a fan of hides - that's the vegetarian in me - but i can ignore it) this mix of colors is very fresh - not the tired chocolate/blue or lime/grey...
you've done an amazing job.

I keep looking at this and don't usually say anything if I don't love it. I do love this but have to say I'd love it more without the cowhide. It seems at odds with the crispness of the room and an intricate oriental with rich colors would lift it into totally wonderful.

I love this room a lot...and I would never think of having that blue in my home, but you've made it work in a mean way!

not a fan of the endless row of square frames or all of the vases on the mantle. there is such a thing as too much repetition. also, some different pillows on the couch might make it pop more-- those asian ones look too busy.

Love the pink chairs and the blue walls :) A great place with great personality. Do the frames really unify the space? Looking at the second photo makes me feel like the space is much longer because of the frames.

I liked this a lot more from the wide angle, all the elements fell into place better.

However, the striped pillows on the (awesome) pink chairs seemed a little too preppy for the space. I think you could replace or just lose them entirely. They bring in a lot of your colors, yeah, but they just seem a little uptight in your otherwise fabulous place. I think the place would still work without them.

I really like this room, but I wish we could see the rest of the house as it is really hard to judge one room vs. a whole house...

I love this room. However, is one room really enough for entering this contest??? To me, living with color means living with it in more than one room.

You've got "mad" color-mixing skills. Seriously, great job incorporating SO many different colors. I love many of the elements. I do agree with an earlier post that suggested the rug/coffee table don't work together, although both are fabulous on their own.
Also, I know the long row of white frames is popular with the readers, but I personally think it's a little too "common" looking for such an extraordinary room. I would LOVE to see you paint a crazy Baroque mirror and hang it above the couch!

Had you shown me all of the elements of this room separately, I would not have believed in a million years that they would work together. But here you go, all together in one room and it looks great! I admire your bold vision!

Of all the entries, this is the first I've seen that, to me, has an original use of color. With respect to all entrants, of course, whom I am certain love their homes.

While I'm not a fan of the repeating pattern of frames and vases (it reminds me of a page from an IKEA catalog), I love that the room is so saturated with rich hues that white almost becomes an accent color. The rug does look a bit dangerous...perhaps a white Flokati or leather shag would work better. Kudos for giving vintage furniture a fresh new life.

What I love so much is that you've taking some unique pieces that are not necessarily the easiest to work with and put them together in such a wonderful and harmonious way. At first I didn't like it, then my second thought was Partay! It grew into my taste fast. I'd really feel comfortable having a party in your living room. Cool! So much to look at, yet at the same time comfortable and relaxing. Not my top choice, but I think it should be in the running.

I love the hides, they contrast well with the dark wood floor. I also love the art on the long wall. I, too, have a room that is long and narrow and I couldn't find a way to make the whole room work...but now I am going to borrow that great idea!

Daring, but fantastic! And contrary to most, I do like the hides! I think that the room needed an unsual type of rug, it would not have worked with a traditional square or rectangular rug... The odd shape of the hides fits in with the over all eclectic feel of the room!

Serious??? This is one of the ugliest homes I've ever seen.

Jamie--had that style and size sofa new in 1958. It was indestructible, lasting through several re-upholstery metamorphoses. It weighed a ton. Sweet Pea, your grandmother has enduring taste; she may be 70 as I am and getting a kick out of the phrase "mid-century modern." Though I've changed styles as often as Auntie Mame, my antennae still go up when I view a room infused with such vigor.

I just picked up a '60s vintage couch in a similar style for pennies on the dollar - vintage couches are the best!!!

Jaime - Where do you do your deal hunting? I'm in Dallas too and am in desperate need of recommendations. I just can't ever seem to find anything I love at the various antique stores. Then again, it's probably due to my lack of patience...

I'm so glad this one did well, it's really sensational.

This is one of my favs. I think the white hide rug is the perfect foil for the fab-but-traditional sofas. I also think it's really clever how the outline of the rug sort of mirrors that of the pineapples! And the white rug with the white pineapples is cool.

You should've gotten first place for your region. Vintage sofa's are the best!

my mom has that crystal candy dish - and i love it! it's so modern meets the 70's in such a great way! brings warm fuzzies to mind of childhood decor done so, so, so much better! thanks for the fabulous entry!
