Name: Jeff and Tracie
Location: Chicago
Type: Condo
Why I use color:"If we had to pick two reasons why we use color they would be A. personality and B. a decade and a half of apartment living. We both have an observant eye and often are drawn to quirky and unusual, and often times colorful, things. For years and years both of us lived in a number of apartments with white walls and rules. When we bought our condo we finally had a venue to showcase our personalities and we really let loose and what was birthed is what you see in these pictures. "
2 Good color tips:
"Don't be afraid! Putting color on your walls is a great way to express yourself and not to mention, if you don't like it once it's on the wall you can always paint over it! Remember that you are going to spend more time in your house than anyone else, so don't worry about what other people might think; all that matters is how you feel about it. "
"Go with your gut! It can be overwhelming standing at the paint store looking at those thousands upon thousand of paint chips. If you are drawn to one over the other, there's probably a good reason. Also, it's great to get paint samples (you can get these at Sherwin Williams for about $5) and try them out. "
Favorite type and brand of paint:"Sherwin Williams Super Paint"
Fun space - I could definitely see myself living here. And I just LOVE that painting above the sideboard! Who is the artist?

I love the color! And ditto sporkyspice about the gorgeous painting. But what's your secret to keeping the corgi hair off the red couch? With the amount my corgi sheds, I feel like I'm forever barred from having a couch in any color other than white!

These aren't my colors but I love how you've made them work. I like that the greens are in the same family, and how you've made them pop with unexpected colors like the red/orange rug and the teal bedspread. I do think the rug is a wee bit small for the scale of the dining set, but the color is great.

It takes great personalities to use all that color! I loved it when I first saw it and I still do.

what a lovely place, i particularly like the second photo.
i hope it's ok if i give some constructive criticism. in the 3rd photo, i feel like the pig and the lava lamp are a bit random and jarring, especially with the lovely painting and credenza.
maybe you could move the cute chipmunk to one side of the credenza, closer to one of the corners of the painting so that they have a relationship with one another.
with the rest of the space, you could stack some books, place a lamp with a white-ish shade, or maybe a few small framed prints/photos (depending on how you arrange them). you can create a sense of depth and layering by placing items on a different horizontal axis, rather than lining them up in a row.
sorry, i've never left a comment like this, but i just couldn't resist.
